Greetings from your Abaco Agent team at Sandra Evans Real Estate Sales in Abaco, Bahamas.
We are so pleased to report that the Hole-in-the-Wall Lighthouse has finally been painted. The Bahamian Lighthouse Society, Friends of the Environment and other dedicated volunteers have been tireless in their efforts to preserve this distinctive landmark. The Bahamas government contracted an American company who did a fine job on this restoration work.
The nature enthusiasts among us were thrilled that, on August 3rd, approximately 110 turtles hatched from a turtle nest on the Atlantic Ocean beachfront at Baker's Bay, Guana Cay, Abaco.
Lots of you have seen the televison advertisements announcing that the production company of Pirates of the Caribbean II had hidden a Volvo somewhere in the world. As this movie was filmed in The Bahamas, many of us assumed the car was somewhere in this country. Sure enough, on August 6th two women and five men finalists won the right to decipher the final clues to locate the buried Volvo. The car was found in the dune north of "Petes Pub" in Little Harbour! How exciting for Abaco!
The last Goombay Festival will be August 11th. As always the Festival is an exciting celebration of the food, entertainment and culture on The Bahamas. Our many Abaco property owners and visiting guests are welcome to join in for some really great fun.
The work at Baker's Bay, Guana Cay, has again been halted due to the "Save Guana Cay Reef Association" appeal to the Privy Council in London.
