Florida Association of Realtors Expo

Florida Association of Realtors Expo
It was another proud moment as Bill and I joined our colleagues in attending, and showcasing our waterfront properties at the Florida Association of Realtors Expo, recently held in Orlando. We were honoured to represent real estate in The Bahamas, promote our Abaco vacation homes, cottages and marina listings and raise the profile of the Bahamas Real Estate Association.

Other real estate agents who attended included George Damianos and Kerry Sullivan of Sotheby's International Realty; Larry Roberts, Chris Roberts and Caryle Campbell of Bahamas Realty Ltd; Cara Christie of HGChristie Real Estate Ltd; John Cash of John Cash Realty, Treasure Cay, Abaco; William Wong and Lauren Wong of William Wong Realty; and Gavin Christie of C. A. Christie Real Estate Ltd..

In 2008, there have been some excellent real estate sales on Abaco. Larger holdings such as Crosswinds and Dockside on Eastern Shores, and Parrot Point on Sugarloaf Cay, were among the outstanding transactions concluded this year.

On Abaco, real esate prices have not significantly increased in the last two years. There are some great deals in Bahamian real estate. As several top quality vacation homes in prestigious communities are being offered for the first time, this is a wonderful time to buy. Some have Sea of Abaco frontage and all are well designed to function as couple's retreats that can also accomodate family and guests. The Bahamas is a tax-free haven!

On a personal note, our son Jason had a great summer working at Harbour View Marina in Marsh Harbour. The owner, Troy Cornea, really took him under his wing. Jason really learned a lot and really manned up to the job. Now, he is doing well in his senior year at Florida Air Academy. He has been tapped to accompany some younger cadets on a school trip to Washington, DC.. He is in the process of applying to several universities in Ontario, Canada where he wants to study accounting. We can't agrue with that! For now, it is all about SATs and his girlfriend's Homecoming Dance. We are thankful for such a good son.
